Dear Friends of The Potter’s House Ministries,

We have been blessed over the past several years to be part of a community-wide online fundraiser known as the Extraordinary Give. Their event has been sponsored by the Lancaster County Community Foundation (LCCF) and provided us with an opportunity for faithful donors to stretch their gifts through the Foundation but also for new friends to be reached through this exposure to the community.

This year LCCF announced that there would be some changes in their protocols for participating organizations. The most significant of these involved the submission of a non-discrimination statement that initially seemed to discriminate against the values of some faith-based organizations. This has caused several of our sister organizations to remove themselves from the ExtraGive, believing that it could compromise their values. We respect these organizations and their decisions. However, the LCCF recently released a communication clarifying their intentions and assuring faith-based organizations that they will not be asked to compromise their values. The intention is simply to be transparent with all potential donors regarding the beliefs and values of each participating organization.

After much prayer and consideration, our Board and leadership have decided that The Potter’s House Ministries will again participate in the ExtraGive on November 18, 2022.  We will continue to be forthright in expressing our Christian values and intention to live out the message of the Gospel. We follow the example of Jesus who did not exclude anyone from His Kingdom. In that same manner, we will express the love of Christ through addiction and discipleship recovery ministry. We believe our participation in this community-wide event gives us an opportunity to proclaim the love of Christ to a broader community as well as being exposed to a wider pool of like-minded supporters.

We will continue to be vigilant in maintaining the mission and ministry of The Potter’s House and The Potter’s House of Ruth. If at any time we believe that our participation in this event will compromise our values or testimony, we will withdraw from participation. Until then we are excited to again have the opportunity to participate and be a beacon of ministry in this unique day of generosity and outreach.

We hope you will consider donating on our behalf on November 18. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have further questions or insights for us. We value your partnership in ministry as we help those struggling with addiction to move “From Captivity to Destiny!”.

In Christ
Lloyd Hoover, Executive Director
